Automatic delamination system for treatment of framed solar panels

As photovoltaic panels installed in the first incentive cycles are phased out, there is a growing need for high-tech and flexible industrial facilities for processing spent modules. The Stokkermill delaminator module is a compact, mobile and automated solution designed to efficiently and safely perform delamination of framed PV panels, separating major fractions such as glass and plastic.
A real need: treatment of decommissioned panels pre-framed
Each end-of-life PV module is composed of more than 70 percent glass, followed by plastic layers (EVA and backsheet), silicon cells, and conductive materials. Proper handling of framed panels requires a delamination step, which allows for the extraction of recoverable components, particularly the glass fractions, the plastic fractions, and the silicon fraction containing silver and other prezione components. Stokkermill has long been the benchmark in solar panel recycling and, thanks to this new technology, is now able to delaminate photovoltaic panels, separating the fractions with a state-of-the-art technology, avoiding the use of complex and inefficient systems, fully automatic that does not require operator intervention and adapts to different module sizes, whether mono or polycrystalline and/or damaged.
Key Features
• Processing capacity: Capable of processing up to 2.5 tons of framed solar panels per hour, ensuring a high yield.
• The system can be set up as a fixed or mobile location on an easily unloadable and therefore self-contained system: Easy to transport on a trailer or container, ready for use at any location, whether it is a temporary collection center or a seasonal disposal campaign.
• Robust and compact design: Designed for fast and safe installations in enclosed spaces or industrial yards, with a design that allows integration into larger systems or as a stand-alone unit.
• Dry system: Separation of glass and plastics without the use of liquids or chemicals, reducing environmental impact.
• Safety and security: Closed and protected layout, with all process components contained within the machine body, ensuring protection of technological know-how and operator safety.
• Easy management by one person: The system is designed to work autonomously, allowing a single operator to manage the entire process without the need for constant supervision. Advanced technology ensures that the delamination process occurs automatically, reducing the need for continuous attention and simplifying daily operations.
• Mobile and automated technology: Management via mobile smartphone, allowing operators to monitor and control the process remotely.
Output materials
Stokkermill's delamination system precisely separates solar panel components to optimize material recovery. The glass is divided into two fractions: one of high purity, reusable in industrial recycling, and a second fraction intended for less demanding applications. Silicon powder, containing silicon, silver and precious metals, is recovered for reuse in other recovery processes or in other industries. In addition, EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl-Acetate), the plastic material used to encapsulate photovoltaic cells, is separated to ensure proper disposal and reduce environmental impact. This advanced process ensures efficient recycling, maximizing the value of recoverable resources and reducing the consumption of new materials.
Designed to be where you need it
The Stokkermill module offers a scalable solution to meet the growing demand for treatment of decommissioned and already framed solar panels. Its mobility makes it ideal for:
• Mobile extension of existing WEEE facilities.
• Temporary collection centers or seasonal disposal campaigns.
• Demonstration or pre-industrial projects to test the operating model prior to eventual production scaling.
• Logistics areas where panels can be processed directly at the collection site, reducing costs and transportation.
Professional technology, industrial design
Designed for continuous and professional use in manufacturing and environmental management environments, the module easily integrates into existing treatment plants. The compact design ensures simplified maintenance, very low power consumption and high operational safety.
An opportunity for those investing in the future of photovoltaic recycling
The Stokkermill delaminator module is the ideal choice for industrial consortiums, WEEE plants, environmental operators and waste treatment managers who want to expand their services in the photovoltaic sector. With a sustainable investment, a solar panel first processing line can be activated, contributing to the closure of the material cycle and the valorization of recoverable resources. With Stokkermill, the future of photovoltaic recycling is already a reality.Ready-to-use, mobile, efficient and regulatory compliant technology.
