Sorting and Separation Systems

Stokkermill is known for the cable recycling machinery and plants, however, we also specialized in sorting and separation systems and these are the result of a long research and development program carried out by our engineering team, to find the best solutions for sorting and separation to support the recycling and the mining industries.

In this blog, we’d like to focus on Stokkermill sorting equipment.

Stokkermill Eddy Current Separators “EC” series

The eddy current separator is used widely in the recycling industry to either recover or remove the metal fraction (indicatively from 1 mm to 300 mm) and non-ferrous metal particles (e.g. aluminum, copper, or zinc) from the final stream in a recycling process. A magnetic rotor is placed inside a conveyor belt which, by turning at high speed, creates a considerable induced current field that moves the non-ferrous metal particles with low electrical conductivity away from the material flow. In addition to the standard models, Stokkermill offers electrostatic separators of any size and capacity depending on the customer’s needs.

The eddy current separators have a wide range of use in the recycling and recovery of the following materials:

  • WEEE (the waste electrical and electronic equipment)
  • electric motors, alternators, and starters.
  • aluminum profiles
  • ASR(automotive shredding residue), car fluff, Zurik, and Zobra

Stokkermill Electrostatic Separators “E-Sorting” series

Often conventional separation systems are not able to separate between minerals and small metal granules. We have developed an electrostatic separator to overcome this problem. The technology uses the conductivity differential between different materials. The insulators (less conductive) remain on the roller connected to the ground by an electrostatic force, while the conductors, which lose their charge, are thrown from the roller. Our E-Sorting electrostatic separators can be used individually or in series, depending on the input materials. There are two standard sizes in the range with either 600 or 1200 mm shafts. In addition to the standard models, Stokkermill is able to manufacture electrostatic separators of any size and capacity according to the specific needs of the process.

Some possible applications from the recycling processes of;

  • PCB and WEEE (the waste electrical and electronic equipment)
  • cable recycling and electrical wiring operations
  • wire recycling
  • mineral processing

Stokkermill  Dry Densimetric Separation Tables “VT” series

The densimetric separation tables VT series are able to separate various materials using the difference of specific weight. The densimetric sorting tables are equipped with systems for adjusting the vibration frequency, the table inclination, and the airflow which guarantees a high-quality separation. Stokkermill shaker tables can be supplied with a pneumatic conveying system, a cyclone, a dosing starter valve, and a dust suction filter.

The dry densimetric separation tables have a wide range of use in the recycling and recovery of the following materials:

  • electric cables and wires
  • plastic materials
  • woodPCB electrical and WEEE (the waste of electrical and electronic equipment)
  • Car fluff , ASR(automotive shredding residue), Zurik and Zobra
