Electrostatic Separation Stokkermill E-Sorting provide the only known method of separating some important minerals and removing or recovering metals from certain recycled materials.  Separation occurs by induced an electrostatic charge into a conductive dry-liberated particle.  

Electrostatic Separator Stokkermill E-soring are commonly used in conjunction with high-intensity magnetic separators.  The electrostatic technology is successfully used in sorting step of plastics, metal recycling industries and mineral processing.


Electrostatic Separation system Stokkermill original E-sorting series design has been developed for the recycling industry and mineral processing, it is the culmination sevral years of technological development and research.  As a global leader in the design and manufacturing of recycling machinery and sorting equipment, Stokkermill is continually supporting the recycling industry. However, usual magnetic separation equipment is unable to separate certain minerals and materials and subsequent research identified electrostatic separation technology as the solution.  

Electrostatic Separation system Stokkermill Original E-Sorting are an important addition to the Stokkermill range of the sorting solutions. Stokkermill E-Sorting electrostatic separator is supplied as either a single or double stage system.

There are three sizes designed to handle different capacities with feed widths of 500, 1000 and 1500mm. Depending on the customer's needs, we are able to offer tailor-made electrostatic separation systems.

In operation, an electrostatic separator exploits the difference in electrical conductivity between various materials in a feed material to produce a separation.  The ability to produce a separation depends on a number of key material characteristics including:

Particle size range, Conductivity, Moisture content.
In many applications, commonly where the particle size range is fine, the electrostatic separator is the only technology able to execute separation (ex. 2mm copper granulate from plastics) in eco-friendly method.

Electrostatic Separator Corona technology utilises the difference in conductivity between insulators (plastics) and conductors (copper and aluminium) to obtain a separation on an earthed roll.  The insulators are pinned to the earthed roll via an image force whilst the conductors lose their charge and are thrown from the roll by the natural trajectory.  Separations can also be achieved between particles of different conductivity (e.g. copper and aluminium).

Electrostatic separators E-Sorting size range original electrostatic separators are suitable for sorting and recovery of :

  • recovery of light metal fractions from the recycling processes of PCB electrical and electronic boards as well as WEEE – the waste electrical and electronic equipment
