Stokkermill's Engine Crusher Now Operating at One of Japan's Largest Recycling Facilities

July 2026

A New Benchmark for Size Reduction

The Engine Crusher was installed to handle the size reduction of automotive engines, engine cylinder blocks, pipes, and industrial pipeline valves — materials that are notoriously difficult to process due to their dense, mixed construction and irregular shapes.

Since startup, the machine has performed consistently well, processing even highly tenacious and resistant materials without difficulty. Components that typically pose a challenge for conventional shredding equipment — thanks to their combination of hardened steel, cast iron, and compact geometries — have been reduced efficiently and reliably, with minimal downtime.

Built for Demanding Applications

The Engine Crusher is engineered specifically for the toughest size-reduction challenges in the recycling industry. Designed to break down engines, engine cylinder blocks, pipes, and industrial pipeline valves into manageable, uniform fragments, the machine is ideally suited as a volume-reduction stage upstream of a hammermill, preparing bulky, resistant scrap for more efficient downstream size reduction. This enables recyclers to:

● Maximize material recovery from end-of-life vehicle components and industrial scrap

● Reduce feed volume and improve hammermill efficiency and throughput downstream

● Improve overall sorting and processing efficiency across the line

● Reduce handling and transport costs through effective volume reduction

● Maintain high throughput even with dense, tenacious scrap

This latest installation confirms the machine's reputation for robustness and reliability, even under the intense operating conditions typical of high-volume recycling facilities.

Strengthening Our Presence in Japan

Stokkermill has already supplied several machines and complete plants for cable, radiator, and electric motor recycling across Japan. This latest installation further strengthens our presence in the country, reflecting the growing recognition of Stokkermill technology in one of the world's most demanding industrial markets. Japan's recycling sector is known for its high standards in efficiency, precision, and environmental compliance — and this installation demonstrates that our machines are up to the task.

We look forward to continuing to support our Japanese partners as they scale up their metal recycling operations, and to bringing this proven size-reduction technology to more facilities across the region.
